York Coin Show

We will be at the York Coin Show this coming weekend, 16th and 17th July. We do not usually bring coins to this fair, just numismatic books. We try to bring a varied selection but do not have enough space to bring all of our stock, so if there is anything specific you require or would just like to have a look at, please email us in advance.

We can be reached here lee @ leetoone . co . uk - just remember to remove the spaces if you cut and paste the address.

My Directory of Numismatic Websites

I have been trying for years to keep up to date my website favourites. I first tried doing this using favourites and bookmarks in web browsers. These soon became unmanageable, so I tried to provide a comprehensive links page on my website. Again this soon became unmanageable. I have now been using "delicious" for a couple of years and it seems to be reasonably robust:

Have a look here and let me know what you think. I can index sites and it makes it easier to find things. I can add sites that people recommend and I had thought that I might be able to rebadge it as del.icio.us/ancientcoinsites or something like that if it works.

Happy to receive any comments or suggestions.

Early World Coins

Last weekend at Wakefield turned into a bit of an impromptu booksigning as Bob Tye popped by to drop off a couple of copies of his new book, "Early World Coins & Early Weight Standards". This single volume introduction to early world coins includes a catalogue of over 1,200 common or influential ancient and medieval coin types, from Europe, Persia, India and China. It is especially useful as a basic catalogue of the commoner Indian and Chinese issues. It also includes an introduction to ancient and medieval denomination sets and an overview of pre-modern systems of weight, and their influence on coin weight. Sample pages are available at his website here.

I will have copies available at the York Coin Fair in January. For information about the York Coin Fair, visit their website here. Look forward to seeing you there!

Upcoming Coin Fairs

The summer break will soon be over and Richard and I will be standing at all of the remaining Wakefield Coin Fairs. Run by Eddie Smith and held on the last Sunday of each month, these fairs have a good variety of dealers present and usually attract a vibrant bunch of collectors. I usually have a good selection of numismatic books and a few trays of ancient coins.
I now have a good new stock of books, a little depleted by the York Fair, but they do cover a broad range including a copy of Fred Shore's vary scarce and sought after book on Parthian coinage.
The remaining dates for 2009 are:
30th August 2009
27th September 2009
25th October 2009
29th November 2009
There is no fair in December and the 2010 season will kick off with the two day York Fair to be held on the 15th and 18th January. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
