I am pleased to announce that our new website, Hookmoor Ancient Coins,
is now up and running. As well as resources on the London Mint of
Constantine and Romano-British numismatics generally, it will
incorporate the Lee Toone Ancient Coins website, offering a range of
coins and numismatic books. The first sales lists will be available
early in the New Year. In the meantime, please take a look and explore
the Resources pages.

Some earlier posts from this blog will be transferred over in due
course, but in the forseeable future this website will be maintained as
an archive.
I first tried doing this using favourites and bookmarks in web browsers. These soon became unmanageable, so I tried to provide a comprehensive links page on my website. Again this soon became unmanageable. I have now been using "delicious" for a couple of years and it seems to be reasonably robust:

http://del.icio.us/leetoone

Have a look here and let me know what you think. I can index sites and it makes it easier to find things. I can add sites that people recommend and I had thought that I might be able to rebadge it as del.icio.us/ancientcoinsites or something like that if it works.

Happy to receive any comments or suggestions.Lee Toonehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01099884197717035592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5894859236904261966.post-49302802399266115372009-12-04T00:52:00.000-08:002009-12-04T01:14:34.887-08:00Early World Coins
Last weekend at Wakefield turned into a bit of an impromptu booksigning as Bob Tye popped by to drop off a couple of copies of his new book, "Early World Coins & Early Weight Standards". It is especially useful as a basic catalogue of the commoner Indian and Chinese issues. It also includes an introduction to ancient and medieval denomination sets and an overview of pre-modern systems of weight, and their influence on coin weight. I usually have a good selection of numismatic books and a few trays of ancient coins.
I now have a good new stock of books, a little depleted by the York Fair, but they do cover a broad range including a copy of Fred Shore's vary scarce and sought after book on Parthian coinage.
The remaining dates for 2009 are:
30th August 2009
27th September 2009
25th October 2009
29th November 2009
There is no fair in December and the 2010 season will kick off with the two day York Fair to be held on the 15th and 18th January.
